Bingo’s Birthday Month is an annual designation observed in December. You know the game that you probably loved playing with your grandparents and other family members growing up.
Bingo is a popular game of chance often played for cash or prizes. The players are given a “bingo card” with a pattern of random numbers and one player calls out a series of randomly drawn numbers. The point is to be the first to complete a pattern such as “five in a row”. The winner calls out “Bingo!” and collects their prize.
The game began in Italy in 1530 as “LoGiuoco del Lotto D’Italia,” and is still played there today, almost every Saturday. The French adopted the game in the 1770s as “Le Lotto.” Germany put an academic spin on the pastime a century later turning it into an educational game for children, tying in lessons on various subjects.
Bingo is a big charity fundraiser. This game raises more than 5 million dollars every year for churches and other organizations.
Bingo is played in mostly all nursing homes, assisted living facilities around the world. The game is simple and great to play by elderly and disabled people. Many older residents grew up playing this game and are very familiar with the game. Bingo can also be plates online and get paid from it. But mostly bingo is a game to play with families and friends just for fun.
Adult Alternative Home Care often participates in Bingo activity with seniors at a local Senior Center. Our most recent participation was with the seniors at Liberty Square Center in Elizabeth, NJ. Winners of each round received gift cards or gift baskets all sponsored by Adult Alternative Home Care.
